This reference lists every keyboard shortcut in Templified's editor and Studio, so you can work faster without reaching for the mouse.
Editor shortcuts
These shortcuts are active while you have the editor open. Shortcuts that modify layers are skipped automatically when you are typing in a text field or editing text directly on the canvas.
Canvas navigation
| Shortcut |
Action |
| Space + drag |
Pan the canvas without changing your selection. Hold the spacebar, then click and drag anywhere. Releasing the spacebar returns the cursor to normal. (Alt + drag also pans.) |
|
Alt + scroll wheel (Option + scroll on Mac)
|
Zoom in and out, anchored to the cursor position. |
Layer selection
| Shortcut |
Action |
|
Cmd+A (Mac) / Ctrl+A (Windows)
|
Progressive select. If one layer is selected, first press selects all layers of the same type. A second press selects every unlocked, visible layer on the canvas. |
Escape / Escape 2x |
Deselect all layers. In Studio (design mode), pressing Escape a second time — with nothing selected and no dialog open — exits the editor, triggering the unsaved-changes guard if needed. |
Moving layers
| Shortcut |
Action |
| Arrow keys |
Nudge selected layers by 10 px in the arrow's direction. |
| Shift + Arrow keys |
Fine nudge: move selected layers by 1 px per keypress. |
|
Cmd (Mac) / Ctrl (Windows) while dragging or resizing |
Suspend snapping. Snap guidelines disappear and the layer moves freely. Release the key to re-enable snapping at any point during the drag. |
Editing layers
| Shortcut |
Action |
| c |
Open the Crop Photo dialog for the selected photo layer. Only works when exactly one cover-mode photo layer is selected, a photo is already loaded, and face placement is off on that layer. |
|
Delete or Backspace
|
Delete the selected layer or layers (locked layers are skipped). |
|
Cmd+C / Ctrl+C
|
Copy the selected layer or layers to the editor clipboard. |
|
Cmd+V / Ctrl+V
|
Paste copied layers, offset 20 px from the originals. |
|
Cmd+Z / Ctrl+Z
|
Undo the last change. |
|
Cmd+Shift+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y / Cmd+Y
|
Redo. |
Send To (editor — Studio designs only)
These shortcuts are active only when the Send To tab is open in the right panel and no text field or canvas text is being edited.
| Shortcut |
Action |
|
1 through 9
|
Stage the design to the matching preset (by position in the Send To list). The preset must be connected to a configured destination. |
| Enter |
Dispatch all staged items in the queue (same as clicking Send all). |
Studio shortcuts
These shortcuts are active in the Studio folder view (design grid), not inside the editor.
| Shortcut |
Action |
|
Cmd+F (Mac) / Ctrl+F (Windows)
|
Open the design search bar and focus it. If a query is already typed, the text is selected so you can replace it immediately. Only works when a folder is open. |
|
1 through 9
|
Stage the selected designs to the matching preset (by position in the Send To list). Only fires when the selection contains designs only — not folders — and the preset's destination is connected. No modifier keys. |
| Enter |
Dispatch all staged items in the Send-To queue. Works when designs are selected and the queue has pending items. |
Shortcut conditions and limits
- Shortcuts that modify layers (Arrow keys, Delete, Cmd+A, copy/paste) are skipped when focus is inside a text input, textarea, or an editable field, so you can type normally without triggering canvas actions.
- The c shortcut for Crop Photo is only active when the conditions for the "Crop photo" button in the properties panel are met — a single cover-mode photo layer selected, photo loaded, face placement off.
- Digit shortcuts 1–9 are skipped if any modifier key (Cmd, Ctrl, Alt) is held, so system shortcuts and browser shortcuts pass through unchanged.
-
Escape exits the editor only in Studio (design editing mode). In template editing mode, Escape deselects layers but does not close the editor.
