This article explains how archiving and deletion work in Templified so you can tidy up your workspace without accidentally losing customer work.
Two ways to remove a folder: Archive vs Delete
Studio and the Templates tab both give you two ways to remove a folder from view. They behave very differently:
| Action | What happens | Reversible? |
|---|---|---|
| Archive | Hides the folder from the main tree. Designs and templates inside are untouched. The folder moves to a pinned Archived section at the bottom of the sidebar. | Yes — Unarchive restores it. |
| Delete | Permanently removes the folder and everything inside it. This cannot be undone. | No. |
When in doubt, archive rather than delete. You can always come back and unarchive or clean up later.
Archiving a folder
Archiving is the recommended way to keep the sidebar tidy without losing work. The folder disappears from the active folder list, but all its designs, photos, and render history stay intact.
- In the sidebar, hover over the folder you want to archive. Click the … menu (or right-click the folder name).
- Choose Archive.
- The folder moves to the Archived section pinned at the bottom of the sidebar.
To access an archived folder, click the Archived section header to expand it. Click the folder to view its contents.
Unarchiving a folder
To restore an archived folder to the active sidebar:
- Expand the Archived section at the bottom of the sidebar.
- Hover over the folder, click …, and choose Unarchive.
- The folder returns to its previous location in the folder tree.
Deleting a folder (permanent)
Deletion permanently removes the folder and all designs inside it. Because this cannot be undone, consider archiving first and deleting only when you are certain the work is no longer needed.
- Hover over the folder, click …, and choose Delete.
- Confirm in the dialog. The folder and every design and subfolder it contains are removed permanently.
The delete dialog warns you that the action cannot be undone. If the folder still contains designs or subfolders, the confirmation dialog will say so — move or delete the contents first, or use Archive instead.
Deleting individual designs
You can also delete individual designs without removing their folder. Right-click a design card (or open its … menu) and choose Delete. A confirmation dialog appears; the deletion is permanent. To delete multiple designs at once, multi-select them first (Shift-click for a range, or click individual cards to add to the selection) and then choose Delete from the bulk-action menu.
How templates are protected when you delete a folder
In the Templates tab, Templified adds an extra safety layer for folders that have render history. When you delete a folder in the Templates tab:
- If the folder still contains active templates or subfolders, the delete is blocked. Move or remove the contents first.
- If the folder is empty of active templates but still holds templates that were previously used for renders, those templates are automatically relocated to a protected internal archive so that your render history stays valid. No render records or completed output are lost.
This means you can safely delete event or season folders in the Templates tab after you have removed or moved the templates you still need — past renders remain accessible in your History.
