This article gives you the big picture: what Templified does, the four core objects you'll work with, and where everything lives in the app. Five minutes here makes every other article easier to follow.
The problem Templified solves
Sports and event photographers produce the same kinds of products over and over — trading cards, memory mates, banners, team panos — for hundreds of athletes per event. Doing that by hand in Photoshop or Darkroom means re-placing every photo, retyping every name, and saving out every file. Templified turns that into an assembly line: you design a layout once, then produce a finished, personalized image for each customer in seconds and deliver it straight to a folder, a print queue, or a storefront.
Four objects to know
Almost everything in Templified is one of these four things (see the Glossary for the full list):
- Template — a master layout you design once: background, frames, photo slots, and text fields.
- Design — a working copy of a template for one customer or athlete, with their photo and details filled in. Designs live in Studio.
- Render — the finished image file Templified produces from a design.
- Send — delivering a render to a destination: a Dropbox folder, a webhook, or a connected print/ordering service.
The everyday flow is exactly that order: template → design → render → send.
Where things live
The top navigation bar has a tab for each major area:
- Templates — your master layouts, organized into folders. This is where you design and edit templates.
- Studio — your customer designs, organized into folders by event or team. This is where day-to-day production happens.
- Flows (Beta) — a visual automation builder. You'll only see this tab if it's enabled for your organization.
- History — a log of every render your organization has produced, with filters and usage stats.
- Settings — your profile, organization, team members, integrations, Send-To presets, and billing.
- Help — this knowledge base.
There's also an API menu for developers who automate Templified from their own systems or Zapier.
Who it's for
Templified is built for photographers and studio staff — no design-software expertise required for production work. A typical shop has one or two people who build templates and a team of operators who crank out designs in Studio during events.
Most features are available to every organization: the template editor, Studio, rendering, Dropbox and webhook delivery, Background Removal, and the API. A few delivery features are partner-specific — they connect to external ordering and print systems (GFcrew/Pro and GFITpro) and only appear for organizations that have connected a partner key. If you don't see them, they don't apply to your account.
